Carmelita's
Story...
Carmelita has settled into our household very well. She's bonded very
closely with our son (we put her in his room the first week or so while
she was acclimating so she got used to sleeping with him and still does
so). He is just thrilled that she has become "his" cat and looks
after her much more so than he does with our other pets.
We don't separate her from the other cat at all - they both have the run
of the entire house and are sharing food bowls and a litter box.
Our other cat has become much less aggressive with her and when they do
tangle (which is becoming less and less frequent) it's about an even match.
The episodes tend to be about 1 second of corporate hissing followed by
a brief chase in some cases. They almost shared a saucer of milk yesterday
but couldn't quite bring themselves to drink it at the same time.
She's highly spirited - which we like - and is absolutely fearless. She's
begun going outside now and shows no inclination to leave the property.
We haven't had to go looking for her at all.
So we think that it's going very well. She seems very contented in our
home and are very pleased to have her in our family.
