Susie's Story...

Hi Dawn,

We spoke on the phone two months ago after I adopted Susie from the Wisconsin Humane Society. I wanted to thank you for explaining more about your shelter and the Petsmart Rescue Waggin' and how Susie ended up at your facility. I'm still interested in learning more about Susie and the sanctuary she was in before she came to you, so if there is anything more you can tell or if you can put me in touch with someone who knows more about her background, I would really appreciate it.

As you had requested, I attached a few pictures of Susie, some with my husband and I with Susie and one with my 8-year old nephew with Susie. I'm sorry it took two months to get these pictures to you.

Susie came into our lives at a time when we needed her. On March 11th we made the very difficult decision to have our 16-year old cat put to sleep. The next day I looked on the Wisconsin Humane Society website and I saw Susie. She made me smile! She was cute, a perfect size and weight for us, plus she looked like such a happy girl. I left work immediately and went to get Susie. Needless to say, I fell in love! As soon as the adoption counselor let Susie in the room, she ran right to me and pushed her wiggly little body into me and she gave me a big kiss. I knew she was for me. - Although I think I knew she was for me when I first saw her picture online.

Susie has fit into our lives so well. She has a nice backyard and likes to spend time outside, but most of the time she is in the house right next to me or my husband. She is very popular with all the neighborhood kids who know her name and run over to say hi when they see us outside. She enjoys looking out the patio doors and surveying the backyard and she goes for lots of walks. My husband walks her in the morning and I walk her in the afternoon and then we take her together in the evening. She is such a happy girl and she has brought many laughs and love into our lives. She's also helped to mend our hearts after our devastating cat loss. I think there would've been A LOT more tears from both my husband and I if it weren't for Susie making us smile!

Susie also gets to spend time with other animals. When we go to my mom's house, she plays with her two dogs and she also herds the cat. The cat doesn't think it's a good idea, but Susie herds her anyway. :o) Susie also tries to herd my brother's high strung German Short Hair. He just jumps right over Susie like a kangaroo because he's always running at high speed and he seems to think it's a game.

Thank you for putting Susie on the Rescue Waggin' and sending her to Milwaukee. She is definitely the dog we wanted and needed and I think she would agree that we're pretty all right, too.

Melissa
