Rascal's
Story...
Dear Noah's Ark,
On Saturday March 14th 2009 on a visit to Pet Smart in West Des Moines,
IA for pet food for Willow and our cats we were introduced by personnel
from Noahs Ark to an Australian Shepherd/Dachshund mix approximately one
year old named RASCAL with one blue and one brown eye. We were immediately
attracted to Rascal and his personality and thought that he would be a
great companion for Willow and help to bring her out of her shell. We
reserved the right to adopt Rascal and went home and picked up Willow,
returned to Pet Smart and introduced them to each other and were happy
to see how quickly they made up to each other. Our son Brad, wife Marcia,
Samantha and Madison met us at Pet Smart to meet Rascal and give their
stamp of approval. The adoption papers were completed and signed and the
adoption fee paid and Rascal became the newest member of our household.
We know nothing about Rascal’s background or how he became a rescue
dog with Noahs Ark. We believe Rascal’s birth date is: March 11,
2008.
Rascal and Willow have become inseparable and as we had hoped he has done
wonders for bringing her out of her shell. We have fenced in the backyard
and they run together, share bones and rawhide together and have a tug
of war with a chew rope. From the time we brought Willow home in January
2009 we had never heard her bark until we brought Rascal home. Rascal
is very protective of Willow but is not aggressive toward adults or children.
Rascal loves children and the attention they give him, especially Maddie
who loves to walk him and pick him up and carry him around. Every where
we go with Rascal, he draws attention from anyone who sees him.
Rascal has become very much Nan’s dog and she takes him on 1 to
1 ½ mile walks up to two or three times a day. Where ever she goes
in the house or around the yard Rascal will be right there with her. Rascal
does not like being left alone and lets us know it. He is also my dog
and sleeps in my room and bed almost nightly. When I am home he will follow
me around the house or sit with me. I put both Rascal and Willow out in
the backyard every morning around 6:00AM when I get up and then make their
breakfast and fresh water before they come back in.
