You may meet and visit with the dogs during shelter open hours. An adoption counselor is available during most shelter open hours. The dog adoption process involves filling out our Dog Adoption Application and an interview with one of our adoption counselors. If you would like to know more about a specific dog before you visit the shelter, please call us at 641-472-6080, or send us an email.

We regularly hold Adoption Days at the PetSmart store in Clive, Iowa. We can arrange to bring a dog you are interested in to an Adoption Day. Watch our Home page for Adoption Day updates. You must call 641-472-6080 to make arrangements to have a dog specifically brought for you to meet at an Adoption Day event.

Our adoption fee includes spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, 30 days of free pet health insurance, vaccinations (Rabies, DAPP and Bordetella), heartworm testing, parasite treatment, and monthly heartworm, flea and tick prevention.

Only dogs with the "Lonely Heart" designation are available for a reduced adoption fee.
